Businesses differ in situations and needs. One may need all the resources to secure their establishments. This is where the Loss Prevention procedure in giving security solutions takes its place. This can also be referred to as the loss prevention job. Companies that sell alarms have been most likely too passive towards selling their products. Consumers just call them if they need something very specific without laying out the reasons of why they want to buy such products. This is what we call quick sale and proceeds to the next buyer.

Today, some alarm companies are adapting complete security solutions by taking the loss prevention procedure. This approach not only provides security for present situations but also for future risks.

This is not just a need but a necessity for business establishments. These may refer to checking of employees’ activities inside the premises or towards the production and selling of products.

An example of an alarm is a burglar alarm which does not actually work 100%. This is because police respond late to the alarm given that the burglar alarm also gives out a signal late as well. It takes the police an average of 20 minutes before arriving at the scene. So a complete resolution to this problem would be putting window bars on stores which would slow the process of burglars getting inside the store and would give time for the police to respond. However, this would also mean that business owners should take the responsibility for all the losses in their establishments. A business should also post positions such as a loss prevention officer job to take charge of these instances.
In reality, we do know that losses are not mainly caused by burglars but by the employees themselves. Basing it on statistics, only 5% of loss is from shoplifting and other robbery cases and the rest of it is done by employees. Hence, aside from a loss prevention officer of sorts, an establishment should also have a loss prevention manager job. Now, this does not mean that you do not need alarms anymore. It means that it’s even more important for you to have burglar alarms to lessen your losses even more.
An example of a business that needs an alarm or security monitoring is dairy farming. The delivery personnel are not supervised in delivering milk and the fact is that they work 24 hours a day. Anyone could just drive up there and steal large quantities of milk or even worse, put poison in the milk. This is alarming, so to avoid such risks control access cards are given only to those authorized personnel (this means that w/out the card, one could not enter the premises). Another way is through putting surveillance videos all throughout designated areas. As such, with the large scope of this security, an establishment should post a listing for loss prevention employment. This department would take control of the security so as to help avoid the loss of the company be it in revenues or in facilities.

By using the loss prevention procedure, it would be of great help to companies in choosing the reliable security contractor to give safety to establishments. Security experts are already aware of the specific needs of such company or will actually survey the establishment and establish what type of security to put up.

So if you think that your company needs one, then you should go for the loss prevention procedure. Even if you see that your employees can be trusted and are honest with their work, you still need to take precautions. There is always a first time for everything. However, you as the owner or proprietor should also do your part. First thing’s first, you should review recordings of your surveillance and cite inappropriate events. Second is to do unannounced visits to departments, third is reserve your trust, don’t be too trustful, and last is for you to model trustworthiness towards your employees.
Loss prevention procedure is not alone in this role of keeping your establishment as standard but you yourself also are responsible.

So as to conclude, loss prevention personnel who are tasked with loss prevention investigator jobs should be added in establishments to monitor and prevent damages in the company’s revenues and properties. This department should include a loss prevention manager or loss prevention personnel positions. In this way, the security monitor department would have a lesser scope of job description and would only focus on surveillance and putting out security alarms.
