The Loss Prevention Specialist III is responsible for loss prevention activities in the area of garnishments, insurance claims, bankruptcies, credit disputes, foreclosures, and recovery, as assigned. The Specialist ensures that collection on all delinquent loans are done in a legal and timely manner, and that all possible means to collect on delinquent loans is exhausted before loan is charged off or referred for accelerated collection actions.
Responsibilities of this role include
Performs credit investigations. Counsels members with delinquent loans or share draft problems.
Assists with the collection of delinquent loans. Responsible for the collection of all loans assigned.
Works with repossession vendors to secure repossessed or foreclosed property as assigned.
Works with and handles all chapter bankruptcy cases with the Loss Prevention Lead and Loss Prevention Manager. Some cases may require appearances in court and communicating with bankruptcy attorneys.
Investigates and answers member credit disputes on loans.
Monitors and collects on delinquent mortgage loans while adhering to all CFPB regulations.
Assigns accounts to the attorney for foreclosure actions. Manages securing the home, obtaining insurance, preparing and listing it for sale.
Responsible for filing disability, life and unemployment claims with CUNA mutual.
Provides back up to the Loss Prevention Lead and Manager.
Corrects account errors and problems.
Responds effectively to member requests, problems and complaints.
Ensures the confidentiality of daily work and member information.
Meets annual product knowledge certification requirements and regulation training requirements.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum three years’ experience in collections preferably with a financial institution.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Basic math skills with an understanding of general accounting.
Proficient in use of personal computer, particularly word processing and spreadsheet programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel. Proficient in use of credit union’s computer system for member account management. Ability to quickly learn new computer
and work with multiple data systems simultaneously.
Experience with customer service/relations required.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
