Business Office Manager
The Business Office Manager is responsible planning, organizing, and directing all functions of the Business Office. This position serves as resource to both physicians and staff regarding best billing practices across service lines. The Business Office manager also oversees the Medical Records/Credentialing staff and acts as the HIPAA Compliance Officer for the organization.
Sets and directs policies & procedures for patient insurance, billing and collections, and data processing to ensure accurate patient billing and efficient account collection.
Establishes policies and goals of department, and administers such areas as patient accounts, insurance/billing, cash application, credit/collection, customer service, and/or reimbursement programs
Continuously analyzes payer policies and industry guidelines to inform proper billing practices.
Responsible for ensuring compliance with government incentive and reimbursement programs including Meaningful Use, PQRS, and Therapeutic Functional Reporting.
Advises physicians and staff of best billing practices to ensure compliance and optimal reimbursement for services.
Leads the Compliance Committee and performs utilization review to ensure billing practices align with state, federal, and 3
party payer guidelines.
Manages the Business Office strategically to meet department goals while staying within the established budget.
Regularly provides information to Executive Leadership including monthly status reports and annual planning considerations.
Provides direction for identifying, reviewing, and resolving billing and processing problems to allow for collection of delinquent accounts in a timely manner; this includes following up with patients, physicians, and third party payers as necessary.
Establishes and manages credit and collection policies and procedures.
Manages Medical Records and Credentialing work flow.
Performs the role of HIPAA Compliance Officer by remaining current on all HIPAA regulatory changes and aligning all business practices to ensure compliance.
Develops and oversees procedures to ensure that proper documentation is supplied to support billed services and procedures.
Develops and oversees business systems and works with information
technology to ensure timely and accurate implementation.
Recommends programs and policies which will achieve timely payments and reimbursements.
Responsible for coordinating patient billing for self-pay, commercial and third-party payer reimbursement.
Business Office Manager
Bachelor's degree in Health Information Administration or a related field required.
One following coding credentials required: RHIA, RHIT, CPC. RHIA certification preferred.
Minimum of five years of experience in a medical Business Office and two years as a department manager in business office department.
Minimum of 2 years experience utilizing both an electronic health record system and practice management system to complete Business Office functions.
Valid Driver’s License required
