This position is responsible for providing risk management consultation services to current and prospective policyholders for the Workers Compensation Division. BHHC is committed to providing our insureds and agents with professional loss control services to help reduce the frequency and severity to workplace accidents or loss. As a Loss Control Specialist/Consultant, you will leverage your knowledge and experience to make recommendations that will improve employee safety & health.
The incumbent will service a book of business in an assigned territory: Maryland, Delaware, District of Columbia, and select regions of Pennsylvania, Virginia, New Jersey, and West Virginia.
Manages assigned book of business within a given territory. Monitors policyholder loss activity and develops loss reduction strategies.
Assists policyholders in identifying key objectives to improve safety and loss control at the workplace; provides consulting and training services to support the account reaching loss control objectives.
Serves as resource to underwriters, brokers and insureds in the field of safety, loss control and regulations related to employee safety.
Develops and participates in presentations to insureds, underwriters, other BHHC employees, brokers and LC vendors.
Reviews underwriting requests for loss control and coordinate assignment of work with other loss control staff.
Performs special assignments and projects as assigned.
Graduate of four year college or university program
5 years of experience in the insurance industry providing loss control or job-related safety services, preferably in workers' compensation insurance.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, and financial reports. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
Ability to write and critique detailed reports that describe the operations, exposures and controls of a wide array of industries. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Graduate Safety Professional (GSP), Occupational Safety and Health Technologist (OHST), or similar certification preferred.
Valid Driver's License, required.
